Finding decent employment can still be a major challenge for young people in India today. The campus interview day in Usthi’s professional skills training project is an important element in helping young people to enter the world of work.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially in metropolitan cities like Hyderabad, the capital of the state of Telangana, exploitation and undignified work are not uncommon. Young people often accept inhumane working conditions and minimal pay in order to earn a living. Without an education, they are denied the chance of a fair job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to open up this perspective to young people affected by poverty, the young women and men are trained over several months in Usthis professional skills trainings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modular training provides them with theoretical knowledge and practical skills that prepare them for the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, recruitment events are held several times a year. Just last week, representatives of various companies came to the campus in Hyderabad. This gives the participants of the professional skills trainings the chance to introduce themselves to the companies during an interview and to establish contacts that will promote their entry into the labor market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of the combination of courses and recruitment events is reflected in the high employment rate of the graduates. Around 90% of participants find fair employment or open their own small business following their course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
